Adventures in My World

What a year it has been, I’ve been playing a ton of gigs with the Western Flyers and a few Snapshot gigs sprinkled in when I’m home. But, Greg and I did find some time for a couple fun trips. We were in Morocco for a couple weeks for one of my dearest friend’s weddings, he treated us like royalty and showed us the cuisine, the music and the sites.  Then we had a nice vacation on the beach in Mexico before our busy tour schedule kicked up again.

Earlier this spring, The Western Flyers did an Australia tour and played the National Folk Festival in Canberra. It was the trip of a lifetime for me, my mom traveled with me and we had a blast being tourists together – nothing like someone else who enjoys those double decker bus tours like I do!  After Sydney and Canberra, the band ventured down south to the countryside outside of Melbourne. We played in Fern Tree Gully and Yinnar and the 14 piece string band the Strzelecki Stringbusters made us feel very welcome! I feel like I made lifetime friends in Yinnar. Besides coming home with a little knowledge of the incredible Australian dialect, I enjoy going through all of my photos of the Australian wildlife. A lifetime of memories!!

I’m only home for a bit right now, but I’ve really enjoyed working in my thriving flower garden. This year I planted some peppers too, we’ll see how they do.  There is a very busy summer ahead, I’ll be teaching at several fiddle camps, playing festivals, concert series and I’m even teaching my first college course. In addition, I’ll be launching Fiddle School over the summer. More news on this to come. In the meantime, my dad has his retirement party to celebrate his 32 year career teaching for Denver Public Schools. I’m a proud daughter.
